Diocesan Youth Board Gathering
On the second weekend in October, high schoolers from all six vicariates gathered to represent Catholic youth of our entire state, and to begin building community as they prepare to assist our youth office staff in making this the most exciting year of Diocesan Youth Rallies we've seen yet. They spent time hearing the Lord's love for them in prayer, in play, and in planning. This was a weekend of Christian leadership formation just for them to celebrate that they've heard Christ calling them to serve as His hands--an opportunity to celebrate that they've heard Him and said YES! As the youth office staff, it was a joy for us to pour into them and allow them time set apart to be on retreat with the Lord before they will in turn do the same for teens all this coming year. We are incredibly blessed by this group of holy teens who are excited to embrace the challenge of peer ministry and answer the call to evangelization.
Charleston Area Young Adult Mass and Cookout
On Monday, Charleston area young adults were offered the opportunity to gather for a second time this fall to enjoy good fellowship, food, and fun. Mass was celebrated by Father Escalante, who gave a homily on the grace of humility and avoiding discouragement. We are very excited to see this young adult ministry taking off and consistently offering a chance for holy fellowship. Their next gathering will be another edition of Stump the Priest in November.
